WELLBEING AND CHILD PROTECTION OFFICER

JOB TITLE: Wellbeing and Child Protection Officer
SALARY: Salary range available on request
POSITION: 3 days a week
LOCATION: Flexible: A combination of office, remote working, and
off-site activity

requires us to prepare our teenagers differently than we did
previously.
Soar exists to prepare our teenagers with the emotional and mental
agility to thrive in this environment and to fulfil what they are
capable of.

Soar creates and delivers preventative, character-building workshops
where teenagers get to explore themselves in dynamic environments,
where they can increase their self-awareness, learn how to cope with
the everyday world, and develop their Inner Confidence to fulfil their
potential.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Wellbeing and Child Protection Officer is responsible for
providing a coordinated approach to the wellbeing and safety for all
staff and young people at Soar that will enable Soar to achieve our
Mission of reaching every Transition Year student in Ireland with a
preventative, character building program.

They will focus on three areas:

* Provide consistent wellbeing support to Soar's frontline program
delivery team, working with individuals on any Issues or concerns
arising from Soar workshops/engagements with schools and community.
* Provide oversight and governance of Soar?s workshops and school
engagements ensuring Soar is adhering to the principles of the HSE
Child Protection and Welfare Policy.
* Working alongside the Training and Development pillar of the
organisation to ensure trainings and programs are protecting the
wellbeing needs of the various participants.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

_PROVIDING ONGOING WELLBEING SUPPORT TO THE FACILITATION TEAM_

* Responsible for overseeing Soars Child Protection and Wellbeing
Policy and act as the primary support for Soar?s facilitators
following school or community engagements.
* Supporting the evaluation and research needs of the organisation,
evaluating our content and working with our Training and Development
function to ensure it reflects the wellbeing needs of our young
people.
* Support Soar facilitation staff pre and post workshop, and
signposting to the necessary onward supports If required.
* Support schools and student pre and post workshop, and signposting
to the necessary onward supports If required
* Act as the first point of contact on any Child Protection
disclosures or concerns arising from workshops.
* Co-ordination of any out of school?s paperwork such as Parental
Consent forms, medical forms etc.

_PROVIDE THE PRIMARY FUNCTION OF SOAR'S CHILD PROTECTION OFFICER
(PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS DESIGNATED LIAISON PERSON - DLP) TO SOAR STAFF
AND SCHOOLS_

* Act as primary liaison in dealing with the HSE, An Garda Siochana
and in Soar?s instance ? schools and community groups, in
connection with allegations of and/or concerns about child abuse and
neglect.
* Oversee and manage the Garda Vetting application process, ensuring
that all persons working with children and young people are garda
vetted in accordance with the requirements of Soar?s Safeguarding
policy.
* Organise the delivery of the Child Protection Awareness training
and other appropriate training in consultation with Soar?s Training
Manager.
* Oversee the completion of the Child Safeguarding Risk Assessment
and the Child Safeguarding Statement on a regular basis.
* Ensure Soar?s policy and procedure is constantly up to date and
in line with latest legislation in order to prioritise children?s
and young people?s needs.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

* A recognised qualification at minimum level 8 QQI in Counselling or
Psychotherapy; or a level 9 QQI in Counselling or Clinical Psychology
* Experience of working with young people, schools and/or groups.
* At least 2 years? experience, working therapeutically with
individuals, teams and groups.
* Fully Accredited member with either IACP, IICP, IAHIP or ICP or
other recognized post qualification experience
* Current professional indemnity insurance
* Excellent administration and organisational skills
* Flexibility and adaptability with an ability to work within work
environments and services that are changing, growing and evolving.
* Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with an
openness to sharing ideas and learning from others

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

* Working in a general consultative capacity within a diverse setting
using a preventative, psychoeducational approach with individual
facilitators, as well as teams.
* Innovating and contributing to the development of services to
promote the psychological well-being of all service users
* Communicating effectively and working in co-operation with team
members and others
* Working within limits of professional competence in line with
principles of best practice, professional conduct, and clinical
governance
* Being aware of, and referring staff and students on to,
appropriate services as necessary
* Keeping up to date with the evidence based and CPD related to
clinical work
* Writing and maintaining clear client case notes, reports and
collecting statistics in line with company policy
* Using a client management system to manage client appointments
* Part of the job role may involve drafting articles which will be
used for content on the Soar website/ informational materials.
